Anyone who knows me, I mean, REALLY knows me- is well aware that my cooking, baking, homemaking skills (except for cleaning toilets and vacuuming- in fact I could win a gold star when it comes to cleaning out tiny crevices) leave much to be desired.

The way I see it- is while I may not be passing down any family heirloom recipes to my kids- I’m also raising a son who will NEVER expect a wife to wait on him ( I know my future daughter-in-law will be a very lucky gal) and I’m proving to my daughter that traditional gender roles do not define us. We are much more than our gender and being a woman does not mean that I am instinctively a whiz in the culinary arts. Actually my husband is…
So of course I was giddy with delight when I was invited along with one of my FAVORITE Women Katja Presnal of Skimbaco Lifestyle to eat breakfast with SUBWAY Executive Chef Chris Martone and tell him that I wanted him to introduce tofu on the menu, and then battle it out with Chef Robert Irvine in the Better Breakfast Battle where I literally got firsthand knowledge of how many options they offer when building and personalizing your own breakfast sandwich.. (Yes the great Robert Irvine totally beat me but not before I piled on as many robust veggie toppings as I could and coined the term a VEGGE sandwich during our heated battle!)
But why do I really love Subway, other than the fact that it is fresh, healthy fast food and such a GOOD alternative to pretty much all the other fast food places out there- because you really can create your own sandwich- be it for breakfast (mine is egg whites with spinach, avocado, cheese tomato and onions) or for lunch (usually tuna, tomato, shredded lettuce, onion salt and pepper on a whole grain sub). And to be perfectly honest… they had me had egg whites and their LATEST topping offering…AVOCADO!
In fact in case you didn’t know SUBWAY is the only “quick serve restaurant” (i.e. you can literally walk out of there with your goods in under five minutes) to offer personalized breakfast sandwiches. And now they’re offering a breakfast combo including any flatbread breakfast sandwich and a 16 oz Seattle’s Best Coffee for just $3.00. I love just about any kind of bagel, toasted with butter. It just tastes so good.
It sounds weird, but tastes delicious! It is a pancake-wrapped sausage on a stick! The ultimate eat-on-the-run and hardly any mess!

My favorite breakfast food is a mushroom, jack cheese, and avocado omelette, because I never get to have it anymore. Where I am from (CA), they have them almost everywhere, but here in VA, they are not big fans of veggies, and jack cheese is harder to come by, and avocados are overpriced.

My favorite breakfast is cooked outdoors while camping. I take a big cast iron skillet and fry potatoes on an open fire, fry bacon and cut it into pieces, add eggs and scramble, and add green chili and mix it all together! It’s soooo good and has a ‘campfire taste’ to it!

When I lived in Australia, I was presented with breakfast consisting of one burnt piece of toast, topped off with a portion of canned noodles covered with some kind of red sauce thing, served somewhat warm.

Why I don’t think that I’ve ever met a breakfast food that I didn’t like! For breakfast, my fave is usually a Special K bar or a Fiber Plus Chocolate and Peanut Butter bar. They are both low in calories and high in fiber. Thanks!

Oops – I forgot to say why, but you’ve just seen a perfect example. I’m not a morning person AT ALL, so I’m really not going to taste whatever I eat. The bagel will fill me up until the coffee kicks in, and then it’s lunchtime.

I like crispy, salty hash brown patties because they just plain taste goooood.
I like oatmeal because it’s healthy, filling and I can add different things for different flavors. My favorite is with banana and cinnamon added.

My fave is a protein shake because it’s quick and easy.
One of my favorite breakfast items is French Toast with two eggs. This is when I want to splurge. I like it because it has the french toast which is sweet and the egg which salty. I like the combo of those two items together.

My favorite thing for breakfast because it is so good is steak ums egg beaters, fried onions, provolone cheese on a sub roll but it is a deffent once in a while breackfast but my favorite.
